About ChargeRightly
ChargeRightly builds free pricing calculators for small home service businesses — pressure washing first, with lawn care and cleaning next. The goal is simple: help you quote with confidence, without guessing and without underpricing your work.
How the calculators work
Every calculator answers two questions and puts them side by side:
- What do customers near you usually pay? We start from published US price ranges for each surface or service, then adjust for job conditions (dirt level, wall height) and the local price level you choose.
- What price do your own costs require? We estimate time on site from typical crew production rates, then add labor (including payroll taxes), overhead, equipment wear and materials, and mark it up to your target margin: price = cost ÷ (1 − margin).
The suggested quote is the higher of the two, so you never go below your costs or below the going rate. Quotes are rounded to the nearest $5 and never go below your minimum job charge.
Where the data comes from
- Per-square-foot price ranges: published US residential price guides, includingHousecall Pro's pressure washing pricing guide.
- Crew production rates and material costs: our working estimates for a typical small residential crew. These vary a lot between businesses, which is why you can change your own costs in every calculator.
We review the numbers regularly. Prices were last checked on 2026-10-30. If you run a service business and think a number is off for your market, we would like to hear about it.
How we make money
The calculators are free. Some pages may recommend business software or equipment, and we may earn a commission if you sign up or buy through those links, at no extra cost to you. That never changes the numbers the calculators show.
Limits
All results are estimates for planning. Local competition, access, water supply, travel distance and the condition of the surface can move a real quote a long way. Always walk the job and check what competitors in your area charge.
